BPAP was founded in 2004, and is supported by many stakeholders. They include the Philippine government, Philippine and foreign chambers of commerce, and allied industries such as property, telecommunications, and employee benefits.
Starting as a two-person operation located in a managed services facility, BPAP has expanded significantly with the industry. Executive directors for information and research, talent development, industry affairs, and external affairs and their staffs work full-time to support investment and expansion. A CEO serves as the IT-BPO and GIC industry’s ambassador locally and abroad, and sets the vision for the association under the supervision of a board of directors composed of representatives of the industry, support industry, and member associations.
In 2007, the association developed a strategic plan for the industry Called “Road Map 2010.” This Road Map provided the mission and development goals for the industry, which grew to $9 billion in revenues and 525,000 in employee base last year. A new road map, the IT-BPO Road Map 2011-2016, forecasts revenues of up to $25 billion and an employee base of 1.3 million by 2016 if the Philippines continues to successfully address HR supply, regulatory environment, and brand visibility objectives.
