Philippine Labor Laws and Policies

 

Presidential Decree No. 442 or the Labor Code of the Philippines consolidates labor and social laws to protect labor and promote employment, develop talent and ensure industrial peace based on social justice:

  • Promotion of full employment
  • Ensure equal work opportunities regardless of sex, race, or creed
  • Regulate the relations between workers and employers
  • The State assures the rights of workers to self-organization, collective bargaining, security of tenure, and just and humane conditions of work.

The IT-BPO and GIC industry is the principal generator of new, high-paying jobs in the Philippines, and government desires to support the continued development of the industry and the creation of up to 1.3 million IT-BPO and GIC jobs by 2016.
